Plastic surgery
Liposuction
Refine localized areas of fat that persist despite diet and exercise.
Overview
Understanding the procedure.
Liposuction removes selected fat deposits through small access points to improve contour of areas such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, or back.
It is a contouring procedure, not a weight-loss treatment. It is also commonly paired with procedures such as abdominoplasty or fat transfer.
Is it right for you?
Candidacy is personal.
Healthy adults near a stable weight with localized fat and reasonably elastic skin may be candidates. Loose skin, overall weight goals, and medical history affect whether another approach is more appropriate.
What to expect
A plan shaped around you.
Liposuction is performed with anesthesia in an accredited setting. Treatment time depends on the number and size of areas and whether another procedure is combined.
Recovery
Time and support for healing.
Compression garments, swelling, bruising, and soreness are common. Many patients return to light work within several days, while swelling and contour continue improving for weeks to months.
